Newton Ferrers Holiday Properties & Noss Mayo Holiday Properties
About
The twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are the hidden jewels in the South Hams. Beautiful waterside villages that straddle a lovely creek, Noss and Newton are surrounded by woodland on the beautiful Yealm Estuary. A delightful combination of friendly village atmosphere and amenities with a beautiful estuary location. Perfect for messing about in or on the water, or enjoying a drink at one of the delightful waterside pubs.
Things to do
Newton & Noss are the most perfect villages for messing about on the water. Youngsters will love catching crabs from the quay, whilst others explore the creek and harbour by kayak, paddle-board or rowing boat – or perhaps join in with the dinghy sailing at the Yealm Yacht Club. Paddle boards are available to hire when you stay in one of our wonderful properties.
Back on land, you’ll find tennis courts in Noss, a playing field (football and cricket) at Butts Park in Newton, horse-riding further down the lane, a bowls club at Yealmpton and golf at Staddon Heights or Bigbury.
For walkers, there’s a lovely circular route from Noss which includes an awesome stretch of the Coast Path and brings you back to the village centre for some well-earned refreshment. In summer there’s a ferry across the river where the path leads to Wembury with its seaside church, marine centre and rock-pooling beach. Or venture further afield on the path towards Plymouth Sound.
Travel south-east out of Noss on foot, bicycle or car for a mile or so and you’ll find Stoke Beach, or follow your nose to Mothecombe Beach and the unspoilt beauty of the Erme Estuary.
Eat and Drink
We are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating. You can take your pick from 3 pubs: The Ship, The Swan, or The Dolphin, The Yacht Club does great food too and now there is the newly opened Green Deli which has a delicious range of fresh breads, pastries and local produce. They also have a fabulous take away menu. Not far away you’ll find good pub dining in Yealmpton and Holbeton, plus a choice of eateries in Plymouth.
There are a few shops in Newton including a butchers, Co-Op and a Post Office selling local produce. A couple of miles away in Yealmpton there is a brilliant farm shop with cafe and a well stocked garage shop.
