Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo
The twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo (known as Newton and Noss) straddle a lovely creek surrounded by woodland on the beautiful Yealm Estuary. A delightful combination of friendly village atmosphere and amenities with a beautiful estuary location. Perfect for messing about in or on the water, or enjoying a drink at one of the delightful waterside pubs…
Bigbury on Sea & Challaborough
Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island are two of the “must-sees” of the beautiful South Devon coastline. The wonderful beaches, the natural beauty of the island and the unique sea-tractor which connects the two when the tide comes in, are truly iconic and will last long in the memories of those lucky enough to visit.
Salcombe
Salcombe is one of Devon’s top holiday destinations, with a choice of beaches, waterside eateries, trendy boutiques, a plethora of watersports and spectacular coastal scenery. Nearby westerly facing Hope Cove and Thurlestone offer great seascapes and family friendly beaches in picture postcard surroundings.
Hope Cove
Hope Cove sits quietly in the lee of Bolt Tail. With stunning views across to Thurlestone and Bigbury, Hope Cove is a wonderful location to unwind and de-stress. Wake up and decide whether it’s going to be a day on either of Hope Cove’s two beaches or a day to stretch your legs on the coastal path. Whatever you choose – memories will be made.
Kingston and Modbury
A bit off the tourist trail, Kingston is a charming South Hams village surrounded by rolling countryside, and just a mile from the unspoilt Erme Estuary and Wonwell Beach. A few miles north east, and half way between the coast and the moor, is the heritage market town of Modbury. A great base for exploring this corner of Devon.
Thurlestone
Thurlestone is named after the impressive Rock Arch lying just off the main beach. Its population was around 35 in 1086 and consisted of a few cottages. Slowly the village grew and it became an important spot for smugglers with the beaches being the drop off point for smugglers in the 1700s. Even though the village has grown, many of the cottages have retained their character. With beautiful beaches, a golf course, hotel and a dramatic coastline to explore along the coastal path, Thurlestone is a wonderful village to base yourself for a superb holiday.
Kingsbridge
Kingsbridge has a fantastic feel to it and it retains its market town feel. It’s situated in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Beauty and next to the Kingsbridge/Salcombe estuary – unusual in that it doesn’t have a river feeding into it. Kingsbridge is a very popular destination for walkers (on the coast path or the moors – Dartmoor is just a short drive away) and those who love to be by the coast as there are plenty of fantastic beaches nearby. If you’re a sailor, Salcombe is just up the road.
